The Dutch National Archives holds the largest collection of photographs in the Netherlands. These 15 million photographs are extraordinary documents of time passing. You can see more than a million of them on With 450 original photographs, the Eyecatchers exhibition provides a unique look into the photographic collection of the Dutch National Archives. A large part of this collection is being exhibited for the very first time.

Photographs by

Alexine Tinne, Onnes Kurkdjian, László Moholy-Nagy, Robert Capa, Eva Besnyö, Emmy Andriesse, Cas Oorthuys, Ed van der Elsken, Paul Huf, Cor Jaring and many others.

Photographer Laureate Koen Hauser has made a series of photographs, especially for this exhibition, which are a contemporary comment on the historical images.
