Reserving records

There are two ways of reserving records to view in the reading room:

  • Before you visit the reading room, e.g. from home, so that they are ready for you on the day you specify.
  • During your visit to the reading room. This replaces the old method of requesting records.

Instructions for reserving records

  1. Create a profile. Go to ‘My profile’ - ‘Edit my details’; check that you have entered your full address, including the town and country.
  2. Search for the record in the archive inventories. NB: The records listed may only be in Dutch. Click on the plus signs until you get to the level of the records. Click on the description to open the detail page for the record.
Do you know the catalogue reference and inventory number of the record you are looking for? If so, you can search for it directly on the archives page. In the archive that is found, you will find the inventory number you were searching for by clicking on the 'Archive components' tab.
  3. Reserve the record by clicking the 'Reserve' button at the bottom of the screen.
  4. State when you would like to view the record, bearing our opening hours in mind.
If you are already in the reading room, enter the number on your day pass in the ‘Table number’ field. You can collect a day pass from reception. If you are not yet in the reading room, enter table number 777 (this is already entered for you).
When you have entered your reservation, click on ‘Reserve’. Your provisional reservation will be shown in ‘My profile’ under 'My reservations’.
  5. Submit your reservations
Repeat the steps above to reserve more than one record. You can submit all your reservations when you have finished, either directly or from ‘My profile’ - ‘My reservations’. Your reservation will only be final once you have done this.
NB: If you do not submit your reservations, they will not be made.

View your reserved records
